Photovoltaic Carport | Case Study in Ankang, Shaanxi
2025-10-31
Project Timeline : December 2021
Project Location : Shaanxi, China
Project capacity: 98.8kW
Project Features: The solar-powered carport is integrated with EV charging piles, enabling the on-site consumption of self-generated electricity.

In December 2021, an innovative 98.98kW photovoltaic carport was completed in Ankang, Shaanxi Province.
The project breaks with convention by upgrading the traditional single-function parking lot into a composite green asset.
High-Efficiency Power Generation: Utilizing high-efficiency solar panels, the carport generates over 100,000 kWh of electricity annually, significantly reducing electricity costs and creating additional revenue.
Space Multiplexing: The structure provides covered parking for 20 vehicles, offering shelter from sun and rain while making efficient use of land resources.
Exceptional Design: With customized design and refined construction, the carport enhances the urban landscape and elevates the area's image.
The project is expected to save approximately 32 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon emissions by about 100 tons each year.
While generating substantial economic benefits, it also serves as a replicable model for promoting green building practices in the region.
The success of the Ankang photovoltaic carport demonstrates that green infrastructure can be seamlessly integrated into urban spaces, achieving multiple benefits with a single initiative and providing new pathways for sustainable urban development.
